Ellisburg (also called Ellisburgh) is a village located in Jefferson County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 269. The village is named after two brothers who were the original landowners.
The Village of Ellisburg is located near the center of the Town of Ellisburg on the south branch of Sandy Creek.

History
The village was first settled around 1797 by Lyman Ellis.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 269 people, 91 households, and 69 families residing in the village. The population density is 102.8/km² (266.1/mi²). There are 100 housing units at an average density of 38.2/km² (98.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 99.26% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.74% from two or more races. 0.37% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 91 households out of which 45.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% are married couples living together, 15.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.1% are non-families. 17.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.96 and the average family size is 3.34.
