East Brady, Pennsylvania

East Brady is a borough located in Clarion County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 1,038. East Brady is the birthplace of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly.

Geography

East Brady is located at 40°59'4" North, 79°36'55" West (40.984550, -79.615333)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 3.0 km² (1.1 mi²). 2.2 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 26.32% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,038 people, 471 households, and 287 families residing in the borough. The population density is 477.1/km² (1,233.6/mi²). There are 542 housing units at an average density of 249.1/km² (644.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 99.42% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.48% from two or more races. 0.29% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 471 households out of which 24.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.6% are married couples living together, 8.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 38.9% are non-families. 36.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 24.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.18 and the average family size is 2.81.

In the borough the population is spread out with 19.3% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 23.2% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 26.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 92.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.9 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $26,667, and the median income for a family is $37,589. Males have a median income of $35,417 versus $21,538 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $15,299. 11.8% of the population and 10.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 8.2% of those under the age of 18 and 17.7% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
