Dorian Yates

Dorian Yates (born April 19th 1962, Sutton Coldfield, England), is a British bodybuilder.
As a teenager living by himself in Birmingham, Dorian was involved with local gangs and considered himself a skinhead. At 19, he was arrested during a riot and sentenced to 6 months in a juvenile detention center. It was during his time there that Dorian started lifting weights. At the detention center Dorian gained a reputation for being particularly strong. This experience helped his self-confidence and gave Dorian a sense of direction.
Dorian Yates won the Mr. Olympia title six times, during the years 1992 to 1997. Dorian became known for his massive back and is considered by some in bodybuilding to set the standard for back development in future Mr. Olympia contestants. Dorian is regarded as the UK's most successful professional bodybuilder to date.
Dorian wrote one book and co-authored another, and is featured in one workout video. In 1993 he published an autobiography titled "Blood and Guts." In 1996 Dorian released a workout video of the same title; featuring a typical week's weight training for him. Again in 1998 Dorian co-authored "A Warrior's Story" in which he writes how he became the top professional bodybuilder.
Dorian is 5'10" (1.77m) tall. His contest weight was between 255 and 265 pounds (115kg and 120kg), while during the off-season his weight was around 280 pounds (127kg).
Dorian purchased a gym in 1987 called Temple Gym in Birmingham. He also is co-owner of a bodybuilding supplement company.
