Depauville is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in Jefferson County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the hamlet had a total population of 512.

Depauville is a community in the Town of Clayton, located by the junction of Routes 12 and 179.

Depauville was formerly called Catfish Falls.

Geography

Depauville is located at 44°8'35" North, 76°3'28" West (44.143189, -76.057757)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 25.4 km² (9.8 mi²). 25.4 km² (9.8 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 512 people, 178 households, and 137 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 20.2/km² (52.3/mi²). There are 203 housing units at an average density of 8.0/km² (20.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 99.22% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.39% from other races, and 0.39% from two or more races. 0.59% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 178 households out of which 44.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.1% are married couples living together, 12.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.0% are non-families. 17.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.88 and the average family size is 3.27.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 32.2% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 32.8% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 9.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 102.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.8 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $37,411, and the median income for a family is $35,893. Males have a median income of $31,184 versus $21,042 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $17,172. 1.6% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 0.0% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
