Coral Springs, officially chartered July 10, 1963, is a city located in Broward County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 117,549.

Coral Springs is located at 26°16'14" North, 80°15'33" West (26.270658, -80.259163)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 62.5 km² (24.1 mi²). 61.9 km² (23.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.99% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 117,549 people, 39,522 households, and 31,301 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,898.2/km² (4,916.5/mi²). There are 41,337 housing units at an average density of 667.5/km² (1,728.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 81.55% White, 9.16% African American, 0.18% Native American, 3.53% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 2.99% from other races, and 2.52% from two or more races. 15.51% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 39,522 households out of which 48.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.4% are married couples living together, 13.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.8% are non-families. 15.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.96 and the average family size is 3.30.

In the city the population is spread out with 30.7% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 32.3% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 6.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 94.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $58,459, and the median income for a family is $64,193. Males have a median income of $45,330 versus $30,898 for females. The per capita income for the city is $25,282. 8.0% of the population and 6.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 9.9% of those under the age of 18 and 9.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
