Clarksville is a city located in Red River County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,883. It is the county seat of Red River CountyTemplate:GR.

The racial makeup of the city is 53.39% White, 42.18% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 3.01% from other races, and 0.95% from two or more races. 7.29% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,530 households out of which 31.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.3% are married couples living together, 19.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.2% are non-families. 31.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
