Churchill is a borough located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 3,566.

Geography

Churchill is located at 40°26'18" North, 79°50'38" West (40.438418, -79.843827)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 5.7 km² (2.2 mi²). 5.7 km² (2.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 3,566 people, 1,519 households, and 1,136 families residing in the borough. The population density is 625.8/km² (1,624.3/mi²). There are 1,567 housing units at an average density of 275.0/km² (713.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 88.50% White, 8.41% African American, 0.14% Native American, 1.93% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.28% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. 1.15% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,519 households out of which 23.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.2% are married couples living together, 5.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.2% are non-families. 21.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.34 and the average family size is 2.73.

In the borough the population is spread out with 18.1% under the age of 18, 3.6% from 18 to 24, 22.9% from 25 to 44, 31.7% from 45 to 64, and 23.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 48 years. For every 100 females there are 93.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.4 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $67,321, and the median income for a family is $74,969. Males have a median income of $52,259 versus $35,464 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $37,964. 3.1% of the population and 1.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 3.2% of those under the age of 18 and 2.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
