Joseph Christopher "Chris" Chocola (born February 24 1962), American politician, has been a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives since 2003, representing the 2nd District of Indiana (map (http://nationalatlas.gov/printable/images/preview/congdist/in02_109.gif)). He was born in Jackson, Michigan, was educated at Hillsdale College (graduated 1984) in Hillsdale, Michigan and Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan (graduated 1988), and was a business executive before entering the House.
From 1994 to 1999 Chris was CEO of CTB Inc., a multinational livestock feed supplier, from at least 1997 through its IPO and as it grew and acquired a number of other feed companies.
In the 2000 election, he made an unsuccessful bid for Congress, narrowly losing to the incumbent, Tim Roemer. Roemer retired in the following 2002 cycle, and Chocola made a second attempt for the seat, this time defeating former Congresswoman Jill Long Thompson in a heated race for the open seat. Chocola had scored campaign appearances from President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and other top officials to assist his bid.
In Congress, Chocola has been involved in the Agriculture, Small Business, Transportation & Infrastructure, and Ways and Means committees of the House of Representatives.
