In the animated television show South Park, Cheesy Poofs are a fictional snack similar to Cheetos. The name is a play on "cheesy puffs" (a real snack food) and "poof". The theme song for them is:
- I love Cheesy Poofs
- You love Cheesy Poofs
- If we didn't love Cheesy Poofs
- We'd be lame!
The Cheesy Poofs song is set to the tune of the All Things Considered jingle, from the evening news show on NPR.
Apparently, Cartman has a great love for Cheesy Poofs - this is a possible explanation for his considerable girth. Cartman can frequently be heard saying "Yeah I want Cheesy Poofs" in the first season. In one episode, Cartman became the spokesperson for Cheesy Poofs after successfully singing the theme tune.
Another Cartman favourite is Snacky Cake.
Food Network host Alton Brown's latest book, I'm Just Here for More Food, contains a recipe for a cheese-flavored bread called a Cheesy Poof. The introduction to the recipe makes reference to "a little boy in South Park, Colorado."
