Braselton, Georgia

Braselton is a town located in Barrow County, Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,206.

Once owned by actress Kim Basinger, the town is now owned by developer Wayne Mason.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 18.6 km² (7.2 mi²). All of it is land and none is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,206 people, 459 households, and 360 families residing in the town. The population density is 64.7/km² (167.4/mi²). There are 491 housing units at an average density of 26.3/km² (68.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 91.38% White, 1.33% African American, 0.00% Native American, 5.56% Asian, 0.17% Pacific Islander, 0.58% from other races, and 1.00% from two or more races. 3.32% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 459 households out of which 32.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.6% are married couples living together, 7.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.4% are non-families. 18.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.63 and the average family size is 2.96.

In the town the population is spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 5.0% from 18 to 24, 28.0% from 25 to 44, 31.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 98.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.6 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $56,563, and the median income for a family is $64,667. Males have a median income of $46,477 versus $27,292 for females. The per capita income for the town is $39,135. 6.3% of the population and 4.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 6.9% of those under the age of 18 and 12.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
