Blair County is a county located in the state of Pennsylvania. As of 2000, the population is 129,144. It was created on February 26, 1846 from parts of Huntingdon and Bedford Counties. Its county seat is Hollidaysburg6.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,365 km² (527 mi²). 1,362 km² (526 mi²) of it is land and 3 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.25% water.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 129,144 people, 51,518 households, and 34,877 families residing in the county. The population density is 95/km² (246/mi²). There are 55,061 housing units at an average density of 40/km² (105/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 97.61% White, 1.19% Black or African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.14% from other races, and 0.60% from two or more races. 0.51% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 51,518 households out of which 29.30% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.60% are married couples living together, 11.20% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.30% are non-families. 27.80% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.30% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.43 and the average family size is 2.96.

In the county, the population is spread out with 22.70% under the age of 18, 8.90% from 18 to 24, 27.00% from 25 to 44, 24.00% from 45 to 64, and 17.40% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 92.10 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 88.50 males.
