Belmont is a census-designated place located in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 2,846.

Geography

Belmont is located at 40°17'6" North, 78°53'17" West (40.285014, -78.888160)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.7 km² (1.8 mi²). 4.7 km² (1.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.55% is water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,846 people, 1,254 households, and 798 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 607.1/km² (1,574.2/mi²). There are 1,350 housing units at an average density of 288.0/km² (746.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 98.14% White, 0.70% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.42% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 0.63% from two or more races. 0.39% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,254 households out of which 20.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.7% are married couples living together, 8.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.3% are non-families. 33.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 20.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.13 and the average family size is 2.70.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 16.0% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 20.2% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 34.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 50 years. For every 100 females there are 77.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 74.5 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $32,717, and the median income for a family is $39,479. Males have a median income of $31,856 versus $25,304 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $17,958. 9.7% of the population and 9.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 17.4% of those under the age of 18 and 5.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
