Barron County is a county located in the state of Wisconsin. As of 2000, the population is 44,963. Its county seat is Barron6.

Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,305 km² (890 mi²). 2,235 km² (863 mi²) of it is land and 70 km² (27 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.05% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 44,963 people, 17,851 households, and 12,352 families residing in the county. The population density is 20/km² (52/mi²). There are 20,969 housing units at an average density of 9/km² (24/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 97.69% White, 0.14% Black or African American, 0.81% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.32% from other races, and 0.69% from two or more races. 0.96% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 17,851 households out of which 31.30% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.90% are married couples living together, 8.20% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.80% are non-families. 25.40% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.20% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 2.97.
In the county, the population is spread out with 25.30% under the age of 18, 8.10% from 18 to 24, 26.80% from 25 to 44, 23.40% from 45 to 64, and 16.40% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 98.20 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.00 males.
