The Australian Catholic University (ACU) is a Catholic, public university based in Australia, that does not discriminate based on religious beliefs.
ACU has campuses at:
- North Sydney
- Strathfield (Sydney)
- Brisbane
- Canberra
- Ballarat
- Melbourne (St Patrick's)
These were originally distinct state-based institutions that were merged in 1991 to create the ACU. Notably, the WA institution did not join, it instead becoming University of Notre Dame Australia.
Departments
ACU has faculties in Arts and Sciences, Education and Health Sciences.
An important field at ACU is psychology, particularly Clinical and Counselling aspects. This is supported by an expert clincal/couselling centre at ST. Patrick's Campus in Melbourne. An ACU representative is also included on the Australian Psychologists' Registration Board, and Australian Psychological Society (APS).
