Angelica is a town located in Allegany County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,411. The name Angelica is from Angelica Church, a relative of Alexander Hamilton.
The Town of Angelica lies in the middle of Allegany County. There is also a village called Angelica in this town.

History
The town was first settled around 1802 at Angelica Village. The Town of Angelica was incorporated in 1805. Angelica is the oldest town in Allegany County and was formed from the Town of Leicester in Livingston County, New York before Allegany County was formed.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 94.5 km² (36.5 mi²). 94.4 km² (36.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.05% water.
The Southern Tier Expressway (Interstate 86 and New York 17) passes through the town.
The Genesee River flows northward through the southwest part of the town.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,411 people, 564 households, and 382 families residing in the town. The population density is 14.9/km² (38.7/mi²). There are 774 housing units at an average density of 8.2/km² (21.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.87% White, 0.28% Black or African American, 0.50% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.28% from two or more races. 0.35% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 564 households out of which 32.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.4% are married couples living together, 10.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.1% are non-families. 27.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.50 and the average family size is 3.03.
In the town the population is spread out with 27.4% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 94.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.4 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $33,750, and the median income for a family is $37,891. Males have a median income of $28,958 versus $21,328 for females. The per capita income for the town is $16,348. 11.8% of the population and 8.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 16.1% of those under the age of 18 and 9.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

Notable Natives & Former Residents
- Calvin Fairbank (1816-1898), abolitionist minister, lived in Angelica and is buried in the Until the Day Dawn Cemetery.
