History

This French progressive rock band was born in the years 1970, lead by the two Décamps brothers (Francis at the keyboards and Christian at the vocals). Their rock was at the beginning influenced by Genesis and King Crimson, and is quite theatrical and poetic. Their first success is the cover of a Jacques Brel song Ces gens-là, on the album Le Cimetière des Arlequins.

In 1995, following a divergence between the Décamps brothers, the band makes a farewell tour and stops. Christian Décamps will then release a few album under the name "Christian Décamps et Fils" ("Christian Décamps and Son"), before taking over the name "Ange" in 1999 (with the band playing on his solo albums, including his son Tristan), with the album "La Voiture à Eau".

Keyboards

The keyboard sound of the band, in their seventies-era, is unique.

It seems that these keyboard washes, reminding the sound of a mellotron, are created with a Viscount organ through a modded Hammond reverb. The actual mellotron has been used on the album Guet-Apens in 1978.
