Androids Saga

Android 17 and Android 18 were awaken by their creator Doctor Gero, but conspired together and killed Doctor Gero. In Mirai Trunks' (Future Trunks') timeline, after disposing of Doctor Gero, they then killed all of the Z Warriors, leaving Trunks and Gohan behind, and proceed to devastate and terrorize the Earth. Years later, they would eventually kill Gohan, then, get killed by Future Trunks before Trunks was killed by Cell. In Chibi Trunks' (Present Trunks') timeline, Androids 17 and 18 had fought Super Saiyan Vegeta, Trunks, and Piccolo. The trio was no match for the Android pair, but yet the Androids let them live.

Imperfect Cell Saga

Later, Android 17 fought Piccolo after he had fused with Kami, giving him extraordinary powers. They were equal in power but for the fact that Android 17 would never run out of his energy, and Piccolo could become drained of his. The match was interrupted by Cell, who was looking to absorb Androids 17 and 18 to reach his perfect form. While Piccolo helped against Cell, Android 17 tried defending himself from being absorbed. All seemed lost until Android 16 stepped in to fight Cell. The two were nearly evenly matched, but Android 16 suddenly got the advantage, ripping off Cell's tail in hope that he wouldn't be able absorb anyone else. But alas, Cell's partly Namekian heritage kicked in and he regenerated his tail, absorbing Android 17 and eventually Android 18 ... making Cell complete.

Cell Games Saga

Android 17 was killed, along with Cell, by Super Saiyan 2 Gohan with a one-armed Kamehameha blast, but was wished back after the Z Warriors used the Dragon Balls to bring back the people killed by Cell, thus reviving him.

Kid Buu Saga

Android 17 is later seen in the uncut DBZ episode where Goku gathers energy to defeat Kid Buu.

Dragon Ball GT

In Dragon Ball GT, he merges with an artificial Android 17, created by Doctor Gero and Doctor Myuu, becoming Super 17. He later kills Kuririn, and tries to kill Android 18 after she refused to join him to take over. Super 17 is later killed by Son Goku, putting an end to one of the most diabolical androids in Dragon Ball.
