Albert Ellis (born September 27, 1913, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is a psychologist who originated Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), a theory which holds that one's personal beliefs and evaluations control one's feelings. Thus it is not the so called reality that bothers us, rather it is our thoughts and ideas about the reality that cause us trouble. The positive modification of our beliefs and evaluations can bring about improvement. Choose different evaluations and beliefs about something and your feelings will consequently change. Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy is one form of cognitive therapy.

Quote

"The art of love ... is largely the art of persistence."

"The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny."
