International Ski Federation
The International Ski Federation / Federation Internationale de Ski (FIS) 1 is the main international organisation of ski sports. Founded by 14 member nations in 1924 in Chamonix, France, today it has a membership of 101 national ski associations.The federation organises the following ski sport disciplines, for which it oversees World Cup competitions and World Championships:
- Alpine Skiing (downhill, super-g, giant slalom, slalom, and alpine combined)
- Nordic Skiing (cross-country skiing, Telemark skiing, ski jumping, nordic combined)
- Others (freestyle skiing, speed skiing, roller skiing, snowboarding, ...)
