Instrumental case
In the Slavic and some other languages including Old English, the instrumental case has the basic meaning of 'being used as an instrument (mean, tool) to achieve/accomplish something (an action specified by a verb)'. The instrument can be either some physical object, but also the abstract concept, too.Sources
