Fidel V. Ramos
Fidel Valdez Ramos (born March 18, 1928), popularly known by his initials FVR or by his nickname Eddie, is the 12th president of the Philippines whose term was from 1992 to 1998. He was a general of the Philippine military and a top military officer during the presidency of Ferdinand Marcos. He was a pivotal figure that led to the downfall of the Marcos regime in the EDSA Revolution. During his own presidency, his centerpiece program was the Philippines 2000, which aimed to make the nation a newly industrialized country by 2000. This plan was largely derailed during the 1997 Asian financial crisis.Ramos succeeded Corazon Aquino and was succeeded by Joseph Estrada.
