English unitary district

English unitary districts (or UDs) are a form of Unitary Authority created from the administrative counties created in the 1972 Local Government Act within which only a single district existed and within which a single-tier system of adminstration held jurestiction within that district, that administrative authority being the council of the district (i.e. no 'county council' was present).
