Cypress
Cypress is a name applied to plants of the
gymnosperm tree family,
Cupressaceae (Cypress Family). Most plants bearing the common name
cypress are in the genera
Cupressus,
Chamaecyparis, or the hybrid genus
x Cupressocyparis . However, several other similar tree species and one unrelated
angiosperm vine also include the term:
- Bald cypress (Taxodium distichum) and other Taxodiaceae
- Cypress trees (''Cupressus species)
- Cypress vine (Ipomoea quamoclit)
- False cypress tree (Chamaecyparis sp.)
- Leyland cypress tree (Cupressocyparis leylandii)
