Capitalist

Capitalist is narrowly defined as a person whose income derives purely or mainly from his investments rather than from an on-going job or work. It has come to refer primarily to any of the very rich and powerful people who, in market economies, can exert influence or control over national and international markets and economies. This is true for almost all of the wealthiest individuals on the planet. For example, CEO's earn only a small amount as normal cash, and the majority of their payment is in the form of stock in the company. Additionally, the majority of the wealth of these people is in the form of investment assests.

Many philosophers and political theorists use "capitalist" to mean "an advocate of capitalism"--q.v.
