Bruce C. Heezen
Bruce C. Heezen (1924 - June 21, 1977) was a geologist. He his most famous as being the leader of a team from Columbia University which discovered the Mid-Atlantic Ridge during the 1950s.He was bron in Vinton, Iowa, and in 1947 received his B.A. from the Iowa State University. 1952 he recieved M.A. from the Columbia University, 1957 his Ph.D.
The oceanographic ship U.S.N.S. Bruce C. Heezen was christened in honor of him in 1999.
