Top Grossing Films of the Year

Movies reaching blockbuster motion picture status were led by Disney's Finding Nemo and include the much-hyped second and third Matrix movies, but as contenders for summer movie dominance, they failed to reach the heights of Spider-Man. In December, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, wide released on December 17, reached blockbuster status within its first four days.
